- 25 Mar 2001 - Reference page 115 in the Medlam PDF Files. James raised a native Regiment in the Gold Coast (now known as Ghana) at his own expense and later became Governor of the Colony.
19 Mar 2002 - He was referred to on page 12 of a publication "Strathglass by Jean Munroe." He spent a total of 38 years in the military, serving in Europe, Asia and Africa. He returned to his native glen covered in wounds. He died unmarried.
