- 01 Sep 2002 - Lauchie had been a student at St. F. X. when DJC was there studying Engineering. They only established contact many years later because DJC's son-in-law, Richard Limoges, while working as a Security Guard on Parliament Hill in Ottawa spotted the "X" Ring on Lauchie's finger.
Lauchie's parents died when he was quite young and as a result he was brought up in Heatherton by his grand-father; Lauchlin Ranald MacDonald. After graduating from St. F. X. , Lauchie went into Journalism and worked as a Reporter for the Montreal Gazette, Financial Post, Time Magazine and then did some free-lancing. Later he was Director of Public Relations for Pratt & Whitney and Royal Trust.
Lauchie explained to DJC how he became a Reporter. The Parish Priest in Heatherton mentioned how he had a flair for writing similar to John Charles Stuart Chisholm (son of Katy Belle) who had studied at St. F. X. and became a Reporter for the New York Times, LaPrensa in Argentina, etc.
